Sketchy Practice by arsheesh Sketchy Practice by arsheesh
Here's a piece I began a couple of years back to practice line-work for a hand-drawn style.  At the time I didn't have a tablet and so this was done with a mouse.  I kept meaning to get back to this to complete it but never seemed to find the time.  I now own an Intuos 5 however and so any future hand-drawn style maps will be done with that.  That said I've sort of lost the motivation to finish this.  After all, it really was just a practice piece.  So I'm making it available to anyone who want's to use it for non-commercial purposes (e.g. for their own private campaign setting etc).  If you wish to use this map in a commercial project however please feel free to contact me and we can work out the details.

Cheers,
-Arsheesh

Hi BloodyPawPrint, thanks for the kind words!
Sorry for the late replay, I've been out of town and away from my computer for much of the past week.  If the map is intended for private (non-commercial) use feel free to go ahead and use it.  If however you are looking to use the map as part of a commercial publication then I'd ask for financial compensation.  If the latter, feel free to send me an email at arsheesh2@gmail.com and we can discuss it more then.

Cheers,
-Tad

It will be for private use. Thanks very much.

If you are open to commissions, i may like to make a request. If you are open, may i ask how much would it be for a map?

Sure thing, enjoy.

I am open to commissions.  I set my commission rate based on how many hours the project is likely to take.  Smaller projects will be cheaper and vice versa.  If you send me an email at arsheesh2@gmail.com and include a bit more detail about the project I'll have a look and we can see if this would be a good fit.

Cheers.

Nicely done, especially with a mouse! I work on my maps with a mouse only but I use pre-designed brushes to assist me. To really draw it with the mouse is astonishing. I love the mountains and the dunes mostly, Great work! You should really finish it :)

Thanks jmelisio :)  I began this a couple of years ago, back before I purchased a tablet.  I had kept meaning to finish it but never found the time.  Now that I have a tablet I kinda don't want to go back to working with a mouse.  Who knows.  Maybe one day when I find some time I will give it another go.  Appreciate the compliment though.

I'd love to get a tablet also but it's not one of my priorities right now. Can't you work on it with the tablet now instead of going back to the mouse? In fact the map doesn't need that much as it is. Would just to add the locations and names I guess :) Looks great anyway ;)

Well you are right, I could just finish it up with a tablet.  But for some reason I've got this weird sense that since I began it with a mouse, if I finish it, it should be with a mouse as well.  I had planned to create some city symbols and a title.  I may get around to it one day, I don't know.  I just have other things going on that require my attention at the moment.  Thanks for the encouragement anyway :)

This is great, Arsheesh. It's a pity you lost motivation on it. I'd love to have seen you finish it. :)

Thanks Ramah, I take that as a compliment coming from you.  Now that I have a tablet I intend to do more hand-drawn style maps such as this.

I like this. I might want to use it for my Sebrica setting, with a few edits, if you don't mind.

Sure go ahead.  As long as it is intended for private use that's fine by me.

I know what you mean.  I am constantly being inspired by the great work being done by members of the DA and Cartographers Guild community.  It's nice to know some of my work can inspire others as well.
